Join Virginia Master Naturalist Anne Parker for a relaxed spring walk along Doghouse Trail in Chilton Woods (CWSF) on Friday, May 1 at 10 am.
From Anne:
Chilton Woods is home to 13 species of native orchid with flowering periods ranging from February through October. Showy Orchis and Pink Lady's-slipper should be in flower on May 1st and we might be lucky enough to find two other species blooming as well. We can enjoy and learn about orchids and any other wonderful things we find on this exploratory walk.
Please bring:
comfortable walking shoes
water
binoculars (one of Anne's favorite botanizing tools), if you like
walking sticks, if you like
Doghouse Trail is an unimproved, unpaved forest trail with some hills. There may be an optional extension to the walk, if there are blooms elsewhere in CWSF.
Park and meet at the trailhead for Doghouse and Central Trails, off Field Trial Rd.
